Our Directional Solidification System (DSS) furnaces, specialized furnaces that melt polysilicon and cast multi-crystalline ingots, are used to produce solar wafers, which are key components of solar cells. GT-DSS450™

Premier Furnace for Photovoltaic Ingot Production

As the market leader in multi-crystalline furnace technology, GT Solar has already shipped worldwide more than 1,000 DSS furnaces for photovoltaic (PV) ingot production. GT Solar’s GT-DSS450, which enables our customers to grow larger multi-crystalline ingots at a lower cost than ever before, is the third generation design in our successful DSS manufacturing line. 

The GT-DSS450 uses GT Solar’s patented crucible coating technology and process expertise, and it includes a production-proven coating process, which consistently produces crack-free ingots. What's more, when used in conjunction with our process expertise, auxiliary equipment and experienced field service engineers, the GT-DSS450 allows for the fastest production ramp-up in the industry.

GT-FSE1000™

Automated Feedstock Silicon Etch System

GT Solar’s Feedstock Etch System, GT-FSE1000, is an enclosed and automated silicon etching system. It can be configured for a variety of steps that are used for cleaning feedstock or recycled ingot scrap.

The system processes silicon using a linear robot, but offers our customers the option to process with caustics, acids, water rinsing or dryers.

GT-FZ100™

Float Zone System

Float zone is widely used by silicon manufacturers for analytical lab sample preparation and quality control.  It plays an important role in assuring material purity, and is therefore an essential tool for solar and semiconductor grade silicon manufacturing.
